Theresa Farnell

Theresa Farnell brings over 34 years of dedicated experience in public education, having recently retired as an elementary school principal from Queen Anne’s County Public Schools. Her career began in the classroom and evolved through a variety of leadership roles, including Teacher Specialist, Assistant Principal at both middle and elementary levels, and ultimately Principal of Centreville Elementary School, where she served for the final nine years of her tenure.
Throughout her career, Theresa served students and families in both Talbot and Queen Anne’s Counties. She spent 12 years as an elementary school teacher in Talbot County before transitioning to Queen Anne’s County in 2004. Her leadership journey included five years as a Teacher Specialist at Sudlersville Elementary, followed by assistant principal roles at Sudlersville Middle School and Centreville Middle School.
In addition to her school-based leadership, Theresa contributed extensively at the system level, serving on committees focused on grading and reporting, Middle States Accreditation, Pre-Kindergarten Accreditation, and EXCELS through the Maryland State Department of Education’s Early Childhood Division. She also provided professional development to teachers and staff across a range of educational topics.
In retirement, Theresa continues her passion for education and early childhood development as the Director of Little Lights Learners, where she is excited to help shape a nurturing and faith-filled learning environment for young children. She also serves on the executive team for the first proposed charter school in Queen Anne’s County and on the Eastern Shore.
Theresa has been married to her husband, Mark, for 35 years, and they have two sons—Zachary (29), who was recently married, and Joshua (26). She is also a proud dog owner to Duke, a miniature Australian Shepherd. In her free time, Theresa enjoys being outdoors, especially near the water, and loves hiking, walking, and biking.
Lorraine Parkerson
Instructor | Teacher, Little Lights Learners
Lorraine Parkerson has been a proud resident of Centreville for over 30 years and brings a deep love for both her community and working with children. She dedicated 25 years to the public school system as a Special Education Paraprofessional, where she supported and encouraged students in their learning and development.
After retiring, Lorraine spent several years enjoying time with her family and pursuing her favorite hobbies, including cooking, crafting, and gardening. During that time, she discovered that her passion for working with children never faded, it simply led her in a new and meaningful direction.
Today, Lorraine serves as a Pre-K Teacher of Little Light Learners at Centreville Methodist Church, where she brings warmth, patience, and enthusiasm into the classroom each day. She finds great joy in helping young children learn, grow, and feel loved, and truly treasures every moment she spends with them.
