General Announcements - August 25, 2026
ERIN’S LAST DAY: As most of you are aware Erin Grier, our organist, will be leaving CMC to pursue another path using her counseling degree. Erin’s last day will be September 13th. There will be 2 baskets outside the sanctuary. One for cards and a second for monetary donations towards a group/church wide gift. Cash donations will be accepted by the Church Office/Shelly OR if people prefer Venmo then you may Venmo Lara Wilson on SPRC at lara-wilson-3. Following the service on September 13th, there will be a covered dish luncheon in honor of Erin. If you would like to contribute or help with the luncheon, please contact Joyce Stevenson.
LITTLE LIGHTS LEARNERS: Little Lights Learners Pre-K program begins September 2nd. We still have items on our “wish list” if you would like to donate to this program.
COMMUNITY DINNER: Join us for a Taco Community Dinner on August 29th at 6pm. If you would like to help with meal prep, set up, or clean up please contact Scott Woolsey at wool32us@gmail.com.
RECYCLING: As you may know, the Town of Centreville no longer offers curb side recycling pickups. We are looking for a few volunteers to do bi-weekly and/or monthly runs to a local recycling facility to drop off our recycling. If you are interested in helping us recycle, please contact the church office.
SUMMER SCHEDULE: The church office will be closed on Fridays during the summer. Normal office hours will resume September 8th.
OLD SALEM CHURCH HOMECOMING – SEPTEMBER 13: Come join us for the 91st Homecoming service and experience a bit of Methodist history and architecture. Salem Church was built in 1845 and was remodeled with the addition of a vestibule in 1906. Plaster and outside siding improvements have been made this summer. The little white church is located south of Church Hill on Route 213. A song and worship service will begin at 2 pm, followed by a covered dish dinner at Henry and Beth Covington’s house. All are cordially invited!
COMMUNITY CHURCH PRAYER: Please join us in praying for other churches in our area. We will lift up a church (some in our denomination and others that are not) in prayer during our worship service and in our intercessory prayer time and we want to encourage you to pray throughout the week. This week we will be praying for Christ Methodist Church of Salisbury.
Outreach Ministries
FOOD PANTRY: CMC's Food Pantry is open on the first and third Wednesdays of every month from 10 AM to 12 PM. On August 19th we assisted 23 shoppers and fed 37 people. Thanks to Ann Harlan for some fresh garden produce along with Leesa Stokes and Jim Barton for their frequent donations of farm fresh eggs. We can always use spaghetti and any type of noodles, pancake and cake mixes, mustard, ketchup, garden vegetables, toothpaste, bath soap, and anything else you wish to donate. CMC HELPING HANDS: Attention CMC Congregation - Do you need assistance with tasks, such as changing light bulbs or smoke detector batteries? Need help with small electrical or construction problems? Need transportation to appointments or temporary meals while convalescing or being a caregiver? CMC Helping Hands is willing and able to assist. When your need arises, simply write your name, phone number and specific need on a card provided and drop in the Helping Hands box located on the table in the Narthex. METHODIST MEN: The Methodist Men meet for breakfast every Wednesday morning at 8:30am at the IHOP in Chester. All men are invited to join us.
METHODIST WOMEN: The Methodist Women meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 1:30 pm. All women of the church are welcome! Next meeting is September 8th.

HEALING SERVICE: 1st Sunday of each quarter – 7:00 P.M. (Prayer for healing will also be available during each Sunday service.
A CONCERT OF PRAYER - Every 5th Sunday- 7:00 P.M. Concert of Prayer scheduled for August has been cancelled.

Learning and Growing Opportunities
FORGOTTEN GOD by Francis Chan: A study about the Person and ministry of the Holy Spirt. Wednesdays 12pm & 6pm – Led by Dale Becraft.
EPIC OF EDEN – PSALMS by Sandra Richter: Experience the book that speaks for us. Bible Study begins on September 16th at 1:30 or 7:30pm. We will order books together and they will be given out at the first class. The cost is $15 and must be paid when signing up for the class. Scholarships are available if needed. To get the books in time, please sign up in the Narthex or contact the office by September 6, 2026 . - Led by Pastor Karen.
ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES: Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM in Double Classroom led by Jerry Thomas.
IRON SHARPENS IRON MEN’S FELLOWSHIP: This group meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30pm in the Pentecost room in the Sunday School wing. Open to all men.
BEAUTY FOR ASHES WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP: Beauty for Ashes will not meet during the summer. See you in September!
CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL: 9:50 -10:50 AM. Kindergarten - 8th grade. Children’s Sunday school resumes September 13th.
