General Announcements - July 22, 2025
Baby Shower:; Bradley and Izze Forsyth (active members of our church) will be welcoming their baby boy later in August. We wanted to shower these first time parents and Baby Forsyth with love following the 11am service on July 27, 2025. Come have a slice of cake and wish them well. Gifts are not required, but for those who are asking you can check out their registry @ https://my.babylist.com/isabelle-forsyth (which has gifts from Amazon, Walmart, Etsy and more).
VBS: If you are interested in helping with VBS this year please contact Larisa Thomas. VBS – True North will be August 3 – 7, 2025. Registration is open! Register at: https://www.centrevillemethodist.org/vbs
We need donations, please check the welcome table in the narthex to see what is needed.
County Fair: Join us at the QAC Fair, August 11-16th. Sign up in the narthex if you are interested in manning our booth for a few hours. It’s a great time to connect with our community!
MODIFIED OFFICE HOURS: Due to VBS, and the County Fair taking place in the evening, the church office will open at 12:00 pm starting on Monday, August 4th through Thursday, August 14th. Regular office hours will resume August 18th.
Outdoor Movie Night: We have several FREE Outdoor Family Movie Nights coming up… All movies start at dust (8pm. July 26th – Moana 2, and August 23rd – Lilo & Stitch. Free popcorn and treats! Bring a drink and chair/blanket. Rain or Shine (movie will be shown indoors in case of rain)
Soldier Morale: Rev Amor Del Rosario is a local Maryland National Guard chaplain and wife of our church family member, Scott Woolsey. Amor is currently deployed in the Middle East. There have been cutbacks in morale related items and benefits for the soldiers. This is where we can step in and help fill the gap for our soldiers. There is a donation box in the narthex with a list of items that soldiers request. Please consider donating some of these items. There is not a cut off date… just bring the items in and put in the donation box when you can and Scott Woolsey will mail out the care packages to the soldiers monthly.
Community Church Prayer: Please join us in praying for other churches in our area. We will lift up a church (some in our denomination and others that are not) in prayer during our worship service and in our intercessory prayer time and we want to encourage you to pray throughout the week. This week we will be praying for Wye Mills & Hillsboro UMC.
Outreach Ministries
CMC Helping Hands: Attention CMC Congregation - Do you need assistance with tasks, such as changing light bulbs or smoke detector batteries? Need help with small electrical or construction problems? Need transportation to appointments or temporary meals while convalescing or being a caregiver? CMC Helping Hands is willing and able to assist. We thank all volunteers who have already fulfilled your requests thus far.
Remember when your need arises, simply write your name, phone number and specific need on a card provided and drop in the Helping Hands box located on the table in the Narthex. Someone from Helping Hands will contact you. Please contact Joyce Stevenson, 410-490-8607 or Larisa Thomas, 240-994-5042 if you have any questions.
Food Pantry: CMC's Food Pantry is open on the first and third Wednesday of every month from 10 AM to 12 PM. The summer months continue to be a time of limited donations as food drives by schools and organizations don't ramp up again until fall. We thank all of the people who have donated so generously to the pantry recently. At the current time we could use spaghetti noodles and other forms of pasta, canned fruit of any kind including applesauce, crunchy peanut butter, canned chicken, ketchup, mustard, pancake mix and syrup, jelly, bars of soap, and toothpaste. Backpack Program: We will need plastic grocery bags when we resume with the backpack program in the fall. Please drop off in the church office.
Methodist Men: The Methodist Men meet for breakfast every Wednesday morning at 8:30am. We will meet at the IHOP in Chester. All men are invited to join us.
Methodist Women: The Methodist Women will not meet during the summer months. See you in September!
Sewing Ministry: The Sewing group will not meet during the summer. See you in September!
Coat Drive: Now accepting coats for our bi-annual Coat Drive that will be held on Oct. 4, 2025. There is always a great need for children/youth coats and jackets. Pick up is available by calling Beth Covington at 410-490-2118.
Service Opportunities
Altar Guild: We need volunteers to help care for the altar. Duties include changing linens, candles, and vessels to prepare for worship services. If interested, please contact Beth Covington at 410-490-2118.
Usher/Greeter Sign Up: If you are interested in becoming an Usher/Greeter at the 11 am worship service, there is a signup sheet in the narthex.
Prayer & Worship Opportunities
Worship & Intercession: 1st Monday of the Month at 6:30 PM and every Tuesday morning at 10 am in the Prayer Chapel.
Healing Service: Please join us for a Healing Service on the 1st Sunday of each quarter at 7 pm in the Sanctuary. Next Healing Service will be in October.
Healing Prayer Team: The Healing Prayer Team are available at the conclusion of every service in the Prayer Chapel and by request. If you would like to join the Healing Prayer Team, or if you have questions concerning the prayer ministry, please contact Dale Becraft at 410-829-1131 or dale.becraft@gmail.com
Corsica Hills Worship: We will have worship services once a month at Corsica Hills. The next service will be July 27 at 2pm. If you are interested in helping, please contact Royce Herman at raherman1@verizon.net.
Learning and Growing Opportunities
Isaiah Bible Study: Join us for our fall Bible study, The Epic of Eden: Isaiah beginning September 3rd, led by Pastor Karen. Often named the fifth gospel, the book of the prophet Isaiah has more to say about Israel’s coming Messiah than any other Old Testament book. Brilliant, courageous, uncompromising, this prophet declared that the year of the LORD had come and God’s people needed to either step up, or stand down. This 10-week study will help us to apply the message of this great champion of the faith to our lives today. –Sign up by August 4th so we can order enough books. The cost of the book is $20.
Pathways to a Praying Church Bible Study: Join us this fall, for Pathways to a Praying Church, A Study of Corporate Prayer. This class will be held on Wednesdays beginning September 3rd, at 12 noon and 6:30pm. Sign up sheet is in the narthex.
Adult Sunday School Classes: Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM in Double Classroom led by Jerry Thomas continuing through the summer, or
9:50 AM in the Pentecost Room, led by Janie Nickle which will pick up again in September studying Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis.
Children’s Sunday School: Children’s Sunday school will resume in September. Sunday’s at 9:50 am. Ages Pre-K and up.
Youth Group: Centreville Youth Ministry (CYM) meets the 2nd and 4th Sunday every month at 5:30 PM. All youths in the 6-12 grade are invited! We will have a modified schedule during the Summer. Stay tuned for updates in the weekly announcements.
Young Adults Gathering: We have a group of young adults (18-35ish) who gather for dinner, conversation, and often play games once a month. All young adults are welcome to join us.
Iron Sharpens Iron Men’s Fellowship: This group meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30pm in the Pentecost room in the Sunday School wing. Open to all men This group will continue to meet during the Summer!
Beauty for Ashes Women’s Fellowship: This group meets on the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:30pm in the Yellow Room. All ladies are welcome to join us. We will take off in July and August and resume meeting again in September.
