COAT/BOOK GIVEAWAY A SUCCESS: A big thank you to everyone who donated coats and books this year! I must admit, I was a little doubtful of how many coats would show up because we had the giveaway last year, but God provided through all of YOU! We had an amazing selection and variety of sizes. There were plenty of happy faces leaving the fellowship hall last Saturday! Thanks to your generosity, our brothers and sisters in the community have warm coats, gloves and scarves! And Books!

YOUNG AT HEART POTLUCK: All retirees, seniors, or young at heart are welcome to join us for a Young at Heart potluck luncheon on Friday, October 16th at 12:30 pm in the fellowship hall. A sign-up sheet will be in the narthex.

OCTOBER IS PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH! October is Pastor Appreciation Month and there will be several opportunities to honor and celebrate Pastor Karen. There will be a basket at the welcome table where you may put cards and gifts. There will also be brunch between the two services on October 18th. This brunch is being coordinated by Rhonda Knotts. If you would like to assist, please let her know. Finally, make it a focus of your prayers to intercede for Pastor Karen and her family, asking for God’s anointing, blessing and protection.

3rd Grade Bible Presentation: Join us on October 18th at the 8:40am worship service where our 3rd graders will be presented with their personalized Bible. 

THE CHOSEN MOVIE NIGHT: Join us on October 23rd at 6:30 PM in the sanctuary for an early access screening of the first episode of Season 6 of The Chosen. ALL ARE WELCOME!

ANNUAL TRUNK OR TREAT AT CMC: Our church will have its annual Trunk or Treat on October 31st from 6-8 pm. If you would like to participate, please sign up in the narthex. 

ANNUAL FALL CHICKEN BBQ: The Methodist Men will be selling tickets for the October 28th dinner at services on October 4th, 11th, and 18th. A great meal that is still only $12. Fresh baked goods available for purchase from the Methodist Women. Contact Allan Stevenson (astevenson44@verizon.net) for information.

CENTREVILLE DAY:  Join us for Centreville Day set for October 24th from 11am – 3 pm in downtown Centreville. If you would like to help “man the booth” a sign-up sheet will be coming soon in the narthex. 

QAC CHRISTMAS ANGEL TAGS: QAC Christmas Angel tags are here! Look for them in a basket on the welcome table in the narthex and consider sponsoring a local child. 

OCC SHOEBOXES: Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are available in the narthex. Please take one, or several to fill at home with your families and return by November 15th! 

LIVE NATIVITY: CMC would like to host our annual Live Nativity this year and we NEED YOU! There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex. If you are able to participate this year as “actors” in this live event, please let us know. The tentative date for our Live Nativity is December 19th. If we don’t get enough participants, we unfortunately will have to cancel the event. 

CHURCH CONFERENCE: Save the date…. CMC Annual Church conference and potluck will be on Tuesday, November 24th.

PRAYER: Please join us in praying for other churches in our area. We will lift up a church (some in our denomination and others that are not) in prayer during our worship service and in our intercessory prayer time and we want to encourage you to pray throughout the week. This week we will be praying for New Beginnings Methodist Church (Chestertown).

Outreach Ministries

FOOD PANTRY: CMC's Food Pantry is open on the first and third Wednesdays of every month from 10AM to 12PM. On September 16th we assisted 21 shoppers and fed 36 people. We want to thank the Powell family for their generous donation of fresh pork along with Bill and Donna Ray, Joan and Norman Pinder, Tom and Janie Nickle, and Helen Benchoff. All were caught red-handed donating numerous items to the pantry, helping us keep the shelves stocked. Contact Allan Stevensonat astevenson44@verizon.net or 410-758-4081 (home landline) for more information. 

CMC HELPING HANDS: Attention CMC Congregation - Do you need assistance with tasks, such as changing light bulbs or smoke detector batteries? Need help with small electrical or construction problems? Need transportation to appointments or temporary meals while convalescing or being a caregiver? CMC Helping Hands is willing and able to assist. When your need arises, simply write your name, phone number and specific need on a card provided and drop in the Helping Hands box located on the table in the Narthex. Please contact Joyce Stevenson, 410-490-8607 or Larisa Thomas, 240-994-5042 if you have any questions. 

METHODIST MEN: The Methodist Men meet for breakfast every Wednesday morning at 8:30am at the IHOP in Chester. All men are invited to join us.  

METHODIST WOMEN: The Methodist Women meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 1:30 pm. All women of the church are welcome! Next meeting is October 13th. 

Sewing Ministry: Sewing ministry meets the second Wednesday of the month, 10:00 to 12:00, in the Red Room. Even if you don't know how to sew there is always something for everyone to do. We also don't sew every month, sometimes we do crafts. We have a wonderful time with lots of laughter and fellowship. Call Donna Ray, 301-452-4861 if you would like more information.

Prayer & Worship Opportunities

INTERCESSORY PRAYER: Tuesday and Thursday -10:00A.M. (Contact Dale Becraft at 410.829.1131 for location.)

HEALING SERVICE: 1st Sunday of each quarter – 7:00 P.M. (Prayer for healing will also be available during each Sunday service. 

A CONCERT OF PRAYER - Every 5th Sunday- 7:00 P.M.   

CORSICA HILLS WORSHIP: We will have worship services once a month at Corsica Hills. The next service will be October 18 at 2 pm.  If you are interested in helping, please contact Royce Herman at raherman1@verizon.net

Learning and Growing Opportunities

EPIC OF EDEN – PSALMS by Sandra Richter:   Experience the book that speaks for us. Bible Study begins on September 16th at 1:30 or 7:30pm. Led by Pastor Karen.

THE KINGDOM OF GOD THROUGH SCRIPTURE - Wednesday October 7 – November 18th. There will be a six-week bible study on the importance of understanding the dynamic rule and reign of God as revealed in Scripture. This study will focus on the Old Testament and what it meant to the nation of Israel to be in the Kingdom of God, what Jesus taught about the Kingdom of God in the Gospels, and what it means to Christianity today. The Bible will be the textbook. There will be two sessions offered, 12:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. There will be a sign-up sheet on the Welcome Table in the Narthex, and you are asked to sign up for the session you plan to attend. – Led by Dale Becraft

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES: Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM in Double Classroom led by Jerry Thomas (2 Corinthians – Finding Strength in Weakness) or 9:50 AM in the Red classroom led by Janie Nickle (Verses in the Bible in different translations – Does the difference really matter?) 

IRON SHARPENS IRON MEN’S FELLOWSHIP: This group meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30pm in the Pentecost room in the Sunday School wing.  Open to all men. Next meeting is October 12!

BEAUTY FOR ASHES WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP: This group meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30pm in the Celebration (Yellow) room in the Sunday School wing.  Open to all women.  Next meeting is October 12!

CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL: 9:50 -10:50 AM. Kindergarten - 8th grade. 

YOUTH GROUP: Centreville Youth Ministry (CYM) meet the 1st and 3rd Sunday at 5:30 pm. All youths in middle or high school are invited! For more information, please email Pastor Karen at khandy@centrevillemethodist.org
