General Announcements - November 25, 2025
Decorating the Church for Advent: Please join us Saturday, November 29th at 9am to help decorate the church advent.
New Members: If you would like to become a member of our church, we will be holding a New Members class on Sunday, Nov. 30th and Sunday, Dec. 7th from 12:15-3pm. You only need to attend one of these 2 class options. A lite lunch will be served. Please sign up for the class you plan to attend so we have enough food. New Members will be received on Sunday, December 14th at our combined service at 10am.
Evangelism Outreach: We are asking for cookie donations for an evangelism outreach we are doing. We will put some Christmas cookies in a bag along with a postcard noting some of our upcoming Christmas activities and invite our neighbors to our church. Please have your cookie donations in by December 5th so we can assemble the bags to pass out on Sunday, December 7th.
Brought to the Light Advent For All Who Need It: If you find yourself longing for the presence of Jesus in real life more than the sentimentality of the holiday season, we invite you to open the scriptures and encounter afresh the light of the world. Devotional books will be available November 30th (one per family please). A donation of $15 is appreciated but not required to receive a book.
Centreville Christmas Parade: We will have a float in this year’s Centreville Christmas Parade on December 5th featuring our Little Lights Learners. If you are interested in helping please contact the church office.
Methodist Women Annual Christmas Luncheon: Please join us on Tuesday, December 9th for the Methodist Women’s Annual Christmas Luncheon at Fisherman’s Inn at 11:45am. Bring a new $10 gift if you want to be part of the Santa gift exchange. Feel free to ask a friend, neighbor, relative to join us. Your reservation must be made with Lynda Palmatary at 410-490-0878, by Saturday, December 6th.
Live Nativity: Our annual Live Nativity will be held on Saturday, December 13th from 6-7pm. Sign up sheet is in the narthex if you would like to participate.
Children’s Christmas Program: Mark your calendar for our Children’s Christmas Program “The Inn Keepers Story”. The Christmas play will take place on December 14th at our 10 AM combined worship service. There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex for children who want to participate. Rehearsals will be held on Sunday mornings during Children’s Church and Sunday School. Please contact Janie Nickle for more information.
Christmas Open House at the Parsonage: Please join us at the Parsonage for a Christmas Open House on December 14th at 2pm. All are invited for a little lunch and fellowship.
Poinsettias at the Altar: Help fill our altar with poinsettias this Christmas Season! If you would like to place a poinsettia in memory or honor of a loved one this year, please fill out the information card located in the church pew and return to the church office by December 15th with your payment. Poinsettia prices are listed on the information sheet.
Ed Parry Scholarship (EPS) 2026 – Coming Soon: The EPS program assists active CMC high school graduates pursuing post-high school education. Scholarship program details will be available mid-February. For now, to ensure follow-up in February, interested graduates may contact the CMC office where an interest/follow-up list is being maintained.
Community Church Prayer: Please join us in praying for other churches in our area. We will lift up a church (some in our denomination and others that are not) in prayer during our worship service and in our intercessory prayer time and we want to encourage you to pray throughout the week. This week we will be praying for Centreville Community Church.
Outreach Ministries
Food Pantry: At this time, we can use pancake mixes, syrup, mustard, ketchup, peanut butter (smooth and chunky), soups of all kinds, pasta and spaghetti noodles, tomato sauce, canned tuna and chicken, canned fruits, sugar, flour, powdered sugar, jelly/preserves, and any other items you wish to donate. As always, donations of any type are appreciated. Thanks to those who have donated in the past and kept our shelves stocked. We want to express our appreciation to Crystal Smith for the recent food drive in Northbrook to benefit our pantry. Food Pantry Christmas Give-Away: The annual food pantry Christmas giveaway will be held on Wed., Dec. 3rd from 10-12. If you have any extra Christmas décor, gloves, slippers, scarves, houseware items, etc. please drop off at the stage in the fellowship hall marked clearly with Food Pantry Christmas giveaway.
CMC Helping Hands: Attention CMC Congregation - Do you need assistance with tasks, such as changing light bulbs or smoke detector batteries? Need help with small electrical or construction problems? Need transportation to appointments or temporary meals while convalescing or being a caregiver? CMC Helping Hands is willing and able to assist. When your need arises, simply write your name, phone number and specific need on a card provided and drop in the Helping Hands box located on the table in the Narthex. Methodist Men: The Methodist Men meet for breakfast every Wednesday morning at 8:30am at the IHOP in Chester. All men are invited to join us. Methodist Men will not meet on the 26th (the day before Thanksgiving)
Methodist Women: The Methodist Women meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 1:30 pm. All women of the church are welcome!
Sewing Ministry: Sewing ministry meets the second Wednesday of the month, 10:00 to 12:00, in the Red Room. You don't need to know how to sew because we ensure that everyone can help do something to complete what we are working on. Call Donna Ray, 301-452-4861 if you would like more information. Prayer & Worship Opportunities
Intercessory Prayer: Tuesday and Thursday -10:00A.M. (Contact Dale Becraft at 410.829.1131 for location.)
Healing Service: 1st Sunday of each quarter – 7:00 P.M. (Prayer for healing will also be available during each Sunday service.
Prayer Study: Wednesdays – 12:30 P.M. and 6:30 P.M. (The current study is entitled “Pathways to A Praying Church” and will run until mid December. The next study, titled “The Biblical Basis for Healing Prayer,” will begin on January 7th.
Corporate Concert of Prayer- Every 5th Sunday- 7:00 P.M. (The next Concert of Prayer will be on November 30th.)
Corsica Hills Worship: We will have worship services once a month at Corsica Hills. The next service will be December 14th at 2 pm. If you are interested in helping, please contact Royce Herman at raherman1@verizon.net
Learning and Growing Opportunities
Brought to the Light Advent Series Bible Study: Begins December 3rd. Classes are Wednesday’s 1:30pm and 7:30pm, led by Pastor Karen.
Adult Sunday School Classes: Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM in Double Classroom led by Jerry Thomas studying Integrity, Living the Truth, or
9:50 AM in the Pentecost Room, led by Janie Nickle studying Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis.
Iron Sharpens Iron Men’s Fellowship: This group meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30pm in the Pentecost room in the Sunday School wing. Open to all men.
Beauty for Ashes Women’s Fellowship: This group meets on the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:30pm in the Yellow Room. All ladies are welcome to join us.
Children’s Sunday School: 9:50 -10:50 AM. Kindergarten - 8th grade.
Youth Group: Centreville Youth Ministry (CYM) begins their fall schedule in September. All youths in middle or high school are invited! For more information, please email Pastor Karen at khandy@centrevillemethodist.org

Service Opportunities
Altar Guild: We need volunteers to help care for the altar. Duties include changing linens, candles, and vessels to prepare for worship services. If interested, please contact Beth Covington at 410-490-2118.
Usher/Greeter Sign Up: If you are interested in becoming an Usher/Greeter at the 11 am worship service, there is a signup sheet in the narthex.
