Angel Tags: ONLY 1 LEFT!!! Are you able to give a child in QAC a Christmas? Angel Tags are ready for adoption. Pick up and register your tag in the Narthex. Try our new QR Code to register them. You can take 2 weeks to shop then turn in to the Sheriff’s Office. Contact Larisa Thomas at 240-994-5042 or larisa97thomas@gmail.com.

October is Pastor Appreciation Month! During the month of October, our church leadership would like to ask that everyone show their appreciation to Pastor Karen and her family. A card basket is on the table outside of the Sanctuary. We will also be holding a Pastor Appreciation Breakfast Potluck on October 26th in between worship services. A sign-up sheet is on the welcome table in the narthex.

BBQ Chicken Dinner: .  Volunteers are needed on Monday October 20th at 6 p.m., Tuesday at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Wednesday at 9 a.m. and especially 2:30 p.m. for the assembly line. Sign up in the narthex. Contact Allan Stevenson at astevenson44@verizon.net for more information or to volunteer.

Methodist Women’s Bake Sale: The Methodist women will hold a bake sale during the Chicken BBQ on October 22nd.  If you would like to donate any baked items, please have them delivered to the church kitchen by 1pm on the day of the bake sale. All proceeds will go to the scholarship fund and Community/Church outreachPlease contact Lynda Palmatary with any questions.

Bible Presentation: Join us on October 19th at our 8:40 am service where our 3rd graders will be receiving their Bibles.

Centreville Day: CMC will have a booth at Centreville Day on Saturday, October 25th. Great day for outreach and community! Sign up in the narthex to help. 

Trunk or Treat: We will be having our annual Trunk or Treat on October 31st from 6 – 8 pm. We would love to have our parking lot full! This event is always fun and a safe environment for families.  Please sign up in the narthex. 

Operation Christmas Child (OCC): OCC shoeboxes are available for pickup in the narthex. Please take as many as you wish and return them filled by November 16th. November 16th we will have the Blessing of the Shoeboxes at both our worship services. National Collection week is Nov. 17-24th. If you have any questions or for more information, please contact Leesa Stokes.

Turkey Tags: Turkey Tags are available for pick up on the Christmas Tree in narthex. Shop for a local family to provide them with a Thanksgiving meal. Meals are to be dropped off at the Kent Narrows Center on November 19th and 20th

Little Lights Learners: Are you looking for a way to help? Do you like working with children? Then Little Lights Learners is for YOU! LLL is looking for volunteers to help with our wonderful students. If you are interested, please contact Theresa Farnell at tfarnell@centrevillemethodist.org for more information.

Community Church Prayer: Please join us in praying for other churches in our area. We will lift up a church (some in our denomination and others that are not) in prayer during our worship service and in our intercessory prayer time and we want to encourage you to pray throughout the week. This week we will be praying for Kent Island Methodist Church. 

Outreach Ministries

CMC Helping Hands: Attention CMC Congregation - Do you need assistance with tasks, such as changing light bulbs or smoke detector batteries? Need help with small electrical or construction problems? Need transportation to appointments or temporary meals while convalescing or being a caregiver? CMC Helping Hands is willing and able to assist. We thank all volunteers who have already fulfilled your requests thus far. 

Remember when your need arises, simply write your name, phone number and specific need on a card provided and drop in the Helping Hands box located on the table in the Narthex. Food Pantry: CMC's Food Pantry is open on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Donations of all kinds are always welcome and we thank those of you who have dropped off donations anonymously. Please consider providing a Thanksgiving dinner for a local family in need by picking up a Turkey Tag on the Christmas tree in the narthex. Contact Allan Stevenson at astevenson44@verizon.net for more information.

Methodist Men: The Methodist Men meet for breakfast every Wednesday morning at 8:30am at the IHOP in Chester. All men are invited to join us. 

Methodist Women: The Methodist Women meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 1:30 pm. All women of the church are welcome! 

Sewing Ministry: Sewing ministry meets the second Wednesday of the month, 10:00 to 12:00, in the Red Room. You don't need to know how to sew because we ensure that everyone can help do something to complete what we are working on. Call Donna Ray, 301-452-4861 if you would like more information. Hope you can join us.

 

Service Opportunities

Altar Guild: We need volunteers to help care for the altar. Duties include changing linens, candles, and vessels to prepare for worship services. If interested, please contact Beth Covington at 410-490-2118.

Usher/Greeter Sign Up: If you are interested in becoming an Usher/Greeter at the 11 am worship service, there is a signup sheet in the narthex. 

 

Prayer & Worship Opportunities

Our mission is to cultivate a culture of prayer that deepens our relationship with God, strengthens our church and community, and intercedes for the needs of others. We are committed to creating times—both personal and corporate—where our hearts are aligned with God's will, lives are transformed through the power of prayer, and hope is restored. Through faithful intercession, spiritual encouragement, and intentional outreach, we seek to be vessels of God’s love, healing, and peace in our church, our community, and the world.

Intercessory Prayer: Tuesday and Thursday -10:00A.M. (Contact Dale Becraft at 410.829.1131 for location.)

Healing Service: 1st Sunday of each quarter – 7:00 P.M. (Prayer for healing will also be available during each Sunday service.

Prayer Study: Wednesdays – 12:30 P.M. and 6:30 P.M. (The current study is entitled “Pathways to A Praying Church” and will run until November 19th. The next study, titled “The Biblical Basis for Healing Prayer,” will begin on January 7th.

Corporate Concert of Prayer- Every 5th Sunday- 7:00 P.M. (The next Concert of Prayer will be on November 30th.) 

Corsica Hills Worship: We will have worship services once a month at Corsica Hills. The next service will be October 19th at 1:30 pm. If you are interested in helping, please contact Royce Herman at raherman1@verizon.net

 

Learning and Growing Opportunities

Children’s Sunday School: Children’s Sunday school is back in session! 9:50 -10:50 AM. Kindergarten - 8th grade.

Isaiah Bible Study: The Epic of Eden: Isaiah Bible study begins September and goes through to Advent. Classes are Wednesday’s 1:30pm and 7:30pm, led by Pastor Karen. If you didn't sign up and would like to join us, please contact the office and we can help you order the correct book. The cost of the book is $20.

Adult Sunday School Classes: Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM in Double Classroom led by Jerry Thomas studying Integrity, Living the Truth, or 

 9:50 AM in the Pentecost Room, led by Janie Nickle studying Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis.

Youth Group: Centreville Youth Ministry (CYM) begins their fall schedule in September.  All youths in middle or high school are invited! For more information, please email Pastor Karen at khandy@centrevillemethodist.org

Iron Sharpens Iron Men’s Fellowship: This group meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30pm in the Pentecost room in the Sunday School wing.  Open to all men. 

Beauty for Ashes Women’s Fellowship: This group meets on the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:30pm in the Yellow Room. All ladies are welcome to join us.
