General Announcements - April 8, 2026

BBQ Chicken Dinner April 22: Last day to purchase tickets is April 12th. The cost remains $12, so grab 'em before we run out. Volunteers are needed for all phases of preparation and a sign-up sheet will be in the Narthex. See Allan Stevenson for more information at astevenson44@verizon.net or 410-758-4081 (landline).

Methodist Women’s Bake Sale: The Methodist Women will be holding a bake sale on Wednesday, April 22nd, during the men’s chicken barbeque. We are asking church members and others to bake some of your delicious goodies for our sale. Please have baked goods be at the church for pricing and display on the day of the bake sale by 2pm. I f you have any questions or can donate some goodies, please contact Lynda Palmatary at 410-490-0878.

New Members Class: If you have been attending CMC for a while and are interested in becoming a member, we will be offering a New Members Class this Spring. Sign up on the information sheet by April 12th. Classes will be determined according to the schedule that works best for those in attendance. – New members will be received on Sunday, May 31st. For more information, please contact Pastor Karen at khandy@centrevillemethodist.org

Confirmation: All students in 7th grade and above are invited to join the series of confirmation classes which is done in retreat format the weekend of April 24-26th.  If your student would like to participate in confirmation, please reach out to Pastor Karen at khandy@centrevillemehtodist.org no later than April 6th.   Confirmation Sunday will be held May 31st.

QAC Prayer Breakfast: Join us for fellowship, encouragement, and prayer for Queen Anne’s County as we share an inspiring message, scripture, music and breakfast. ALL ARE WELCOME. April 23rd from 7am-9am at Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department. To purchase tickets ($20 each) go to facebook.com/qaprayerbreakfast

Memorial Garden Bricks: We are now taking orders for Memorial Garden Bricks. If you would like to purchase a brick in memory of a loved one to be installed this year, please pick up an order form in the narthex or church office and return it no later than April 30th. 

Ed Parry Scholarship (EPS) 2026: The EPS program assists active CMC high school graduates pursuing post-high school education. Interested graduates may pick up an application packet in the church office. Applications are due no later than May 1, 2026.

Methodist Women’s Scholarship 2026 –  The Methodist Women’s scholarship application for 2026 is now available in the church office. Graduating Seniors must be an active CMC member. Applications are due no later than May 1, 2026.

Community Church Prayer: Please join us in praying for other churches in our area. We will lift up a church (some in our denomination and others that are not) in prayer during our worship service and in our intercessory prayer time and we want to encourage you to pray throughout the week. This week we will be praying for Harvest Alliance.

Outreach Ministries

Food Pantry: CMC's Food Pantry is open on the first and third Wednesdays of every month from 10 AM to 12 PM. The food pantry volunteers and shoppers are grateful for the donations from recent food drives by the QACHS Future Farmers of America and Daycare, Inc. We also express our gratitude to The Queenstown Harbor Ladies Golf League for their very generous cash donation. CMC Helping Hands: Attention CMC Congregation - Do you need assistance with tasks, such as changing light bulbs or smoke detector batteries? Need help with small electrical or construction problems? Need transportation to appointments or temporary meals while convalescing or being a caregiver? CMC Helping Hands is willing and able to assist.  When your need arises, simply write your name, phone number and specific need on a card provided and drop in the Helping Hands box located on the table in the Narthex.  Please contact Joyce Stevenson, 410-490-8607 or Larisa Thomas, 240-994-5042 if you have any questions. 

Methodist Men: The Methodist Men meet for breakfast every Wednesday morning at 8:30am at the IHOP in Chester. All men are invited to join us.  

Methodist Women: The Methodist Women meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 1:30 pm. All women of the church are welcome!

Sewing Ministry: Sewing ministry meets the second Wednesday of the month, 10:00 to 12:00, in the Red Room. You don't need to know how to sew because we ensure that everyone can help do something to complete what we are working on. Call Donna Ray, 301-452-4861 if you would like more information. Learning and Growing Opportunities

Unpuzzled: A Bible study on the letter to the Ephesians begins Wednesdays April 8th at 1:30 and 7:30pm. Books cost $16.00. 

Supernatural Bible Study: An 8-week study from the book “Supernatural: Experiencing the Power of God’s Kingdom” will begin on April 8. The book is $16.95. There will be two classes offered 12:15 P.M. and 6:15 P.M. Please sign up on the form in the Lobby.

Adult Sunday School Classes: Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM in Double Classroom led by Jerry Thomas, or  9:50 AM in the Pentecost Room, led by Janie Nickle.

Iron Sharpens Iron Men’s Fellowship: This group meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30pm in the Pentecost room in the Sunday School wing.  Open to all men. Next Meeting is April 13

Beauty for Ashes Women’s Fellowship: This group meets on the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:30pm in the Yellow Room. All ladies are welcome to join us.   Next Meeting is April 13

Children’s Sunday School: 9:50 -10:50 AM. Kindergarten - 8th grade.

Service Opportunities

Altar Guild: Have you been looking for an opportunity to serve? Then…

The Altar Ministry is looking for YOU!! This group of volunteers cares for the altar, paraments (cloths that adorn the altar, pulpit, and lectern) and communion vessels. Tasks include replacing candles weekly and setting up the communion table on the first Sunday of the month. Help is needed for the months of July, September, and November. Volunteers commit to one month at a time, typically 4 Sundays. If you are interested, please call Beth Covington at 410-490-2118.

Usher/Greeter Sign Up: If you are interested in becoming an Usher/Greeter at the 11 am worship service, there is a signup sheet in the narthex.
